Development company Panku Inc. will break ground this Wednesday, August 7, at 10:00 a.m. for the long-anticipated Rubio Village project coming to 201-217 South San Gabriel Boulevard.
The Rubio Village project is slated for construction in September of this year and will continue over a two-year period with an expected completion date of fall 2021. The first floor of the Rubio Village will feature approximately 16,500 square feet of commercial space that will host a restaurant and a retail experience along San Gabriel Boulevard.
Just above the commercial units will be 159 residential units, three of which will be dedicated to townhomes. 12 of the residential units will be dedicated to affordable housing for moderate-income households. The project will feature two levels of subterranean garage parking and a barbecue area, play area, pool and spa for residents to enjoy.
The development site will replace the former San Gabriel Bowling Alley, which has been vacant for over a decade. This groundbreaking ceremony will celebrate years of hard work and collaboration between Panku Inc, City staff, and the County of Los Angeles Flood Control District as significant improvements have been made to the flood control channel. The Rubio Village project will contribute significantly to the overall revitalization of San Gabriel Boulevard and the neighborhood will benefit from streetscape and traffic improvements to the surrounding streets.
Meanwhile, the iconic San Gabriel Bowling Alley sign has been preserved at the Valley Relics Museum in Lake Balboa, CA.
