Celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week in San Gabriel

Next week is National Travel & Tourism Week and we’d like to highlight why “Travel Matters” to San Gabriel! The travel industry has made large contributions to San Gabriel’s economy and jobs. Each year, the hotels within San Gabriel generate millions of dollars in transient occupancy tax which helps support our parks, roads, police and fire services, and much, much more.

The Hilton Los Angeles/San Gabriel and the Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel employ over 300 people and this number is expected to increase with the new luxury hotel coming to 101 West Valley Blvd. San Gabriel is a premier destination that attracts visitors from across the globe for its unique and rich history – not to mention its abundance in great restaurants.

If you want to get away in your own town, San Gabriel is a great staycation destination! Here’s a sample itinerary of how your family can spend this Friday, May 3, 2019 in the Mission District (with Yelp links for reference!):

  • 9:00 a.m.: Start your day with a cup of coffee and pastry from D’Ange Bakery.
  • 10:00 a.m.: Begin your tour of the Mission San Gabriel Arcangel, the fourth mission in the California chain.
  • 12:00 p.m.: Grab a sandwich from Pulciano’s Deli & Café where you can build your own sandwich or try a house favorite like the Mafia special, which is a delicious sub made on toasted garlic bread.
  • 2:00 p.m. Need an afternoon pick-me-up? Enjoy an ice pop at Nomads Ice Pops with unique flavors like Date & Coconut, Passion Fruit, and Vanilla Avocado.
