Jason Pu appointed Mayor of San Gabriel

At the March 19 City Council meeting, the City Council appointed Jason Pu as the Mayor of San Gabriel.

Of the appointment, Mayor Pu said “I want to thank my colleagues on the City Council for their confidence in voting me as Mayor and also for their hard work throughout the year.” Mayor Pu continued, “This is already shaping up to be a very busy year, full of challenges and important decisions. We’ll need to look carefully at our budget to ensure that we can continue to efficiently and effectively deliver on all of the City projects and services while maintaining fiscal responsibility and the overall health of our City finances.”

Of her appointment to Vice Mayor, Vice Mayor Denise Menchaca said “We’ve built an infrastructure for change, and that is what our community has asked for and I believe we’ve delivered.”

Every year, the City Council reorganizes based on votes among the Council to appoint a new Mayor and Vice Mayor. The term of these appointments typically last one year.

City Council approves temporary street closure at 400 West Broadway between Santa Anita Street and Junipero Place

With a 4-0 vote with Councilmember Costanzo absent from the vote, the City Council approved a temporary street closure for their first annual Spring Boutique on April 7. The closure will occur on Broadway between Santa Anita Street and Junipero Place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 7.
