Photos: San Gabriel Police participate in 2018 Law Enforcement Torch Run

Every year, the San Gabriel Police Department supports the Special Olympics by participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run. The annual event – which began in 1981 – allows law enforcement agencies to carry the Flame of Hope to the opening ceremonies of local competitions, with over 97,000 law enforcement members carrying the flame annually.

For the San Gabriel Police Department, officers carried the torch from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Temple Station to the Monetary Park Police Department in a 3.5 mile run. Members of the police department – including officers, cadets and explorers – ran alongside members of the San Gabriel Valley Athletics program in support.

We’ve included several photos from today’s run below. If you’d like to learn more, please visit the Law Enforcement Torch Run’s official website.
